Annual Golf Outing Committee

Each summer, the FCS stages a fun and competitive golf outing whose net proceeds are donated to our three children’s charities. The committee coordinates the selection of the golf course, and organizes the logistics of the outing, including sponsorship, communications, recruiting, and prizes.

Education Committee

The committee taps our membership's intellectual capital to create forums for the sharing of the latest financial services marketing concepts and other relevant information. We recruit speakers and business leaders within our organization to host programs, breakfast discussions and workshops for members to provide an invaluable mentoring and networking asset. We work with leading academic and research organizations, such as Columbia Business School and Guideline, to create professional programs that meet the needs of our membership and foster thought leadership within the financial marketing community.

FCS Financial Marketer of the Year Committee

The third annual FCS Financial Marketer of the Year award will be announced on January 29th at a gala luncheon. The committee, chaired by Marie Mason of USA Today and Haywood Henderson of the International Herald Tribune, organized the entire award process from the nominations and judging through the event planning and luncheon logistics.

FCS Job Shadow Committee

Each year, the FCS works with Junior Achievement to organize of “job shadow” day in which FCS members host high school students in their offices, for a morning of information-sharing about career opportunities in the financial marketing industry. The students are typically college-bound seniors and juniors from New York City high schools. The students have the opportunity to compete in an essay-writing contest, with prizes funded by FCS corporate sponsors. Committee members help recruit companies to host the students, work with Junior Achievement and the selected high schools, contact sponsors for donations, and participate in the essay contest judging. The 2009 Job Shadow Day will be scheduled for the Fall.

FCS Portfolio Awards Committee

In 2009, the FCS will celebrate the 15th Anniversary of its annual Portfolio Awards, which are bestowed on advertising, digital media and collateral for creative excellence. The 2009 Committee, chaired by Andrew Claflin of Barron’s and Tom Broadbanks for Mediaedge:cia, is responsible for the complete organization of the event - including sponsorship, the call for entries process, judging and event logistics. This year’s flagship event will be held on Thursday, May 14th at Terminal 5 (11th Avenue & 56th Street) in New York City.

FCS Race for Kids Committee

For the past 10 years, the FCS has helped raise more than $1 million for three children’s charities, primarily through the annual ski weekend known as Race for Kids. By supporting Hope & Heroes Children’s Cancer Fund, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Downey Side Adoption Agency, the FCS focuses the tremendous generosity of the financial marketing industry on three worthy causes. The Committee helps organize all aspects of the ski weekend: from recruiting corporate racing teams and individual skiers, to coordinating activities for all participants as well as branding opportunities for sponsors. Membership Committee

Active membership is the lifeblood of the FCS organization. This committee is charged with creating meaningful benefits for all members, while seeking to optimize recruiting efforts to broaden, deepen and diversify representation across corporate, agency and media interests. The committee will pursue constant dialogue through surveys and direct networking.

Programming Committee

This committee is charged with continuing the FCS's rich legacy for delivering quality speakers for our monthly luncheons and periodic breakfast presentations. Committee members propose themes/speakers and help coordinate the logistics for each event.

Special Events Committee

During the course of the year, the FCS looks to host special events focused on networking opportunities for its members and industry friends. In addition to our Annual Holiday Party, we have hosted wine tastings and other social events in the past. This committee identifies and recommends new event ideas and follows through on coordinating all logistics. Each event is designed to focus on our community and/or education mandates, while delivering a philanthropic result through the donation of net proceeds to our three children’s charities.

Sponsorship Committee

This vital committee’s responsibility is to create and offer sponsorships of FCS events by providing the features and benefits of each event/program to potential sponsors. The drive for sponsors is woven into every other FCS committee's planning to bring in/increase the sponsors to the organization. This committee works to customize opportunities for all FCS members' organizations to participate.

Website Committee

The FCS website, www.fcsinteractive.com, is the main information resource for FCS members and the financial community at large. The committee's role is to maintain an interesting and informative interactive web presence that is useful as a communications vehicle for the FCS. The committee also solicits and provides value to sponsors, through ad space, and works closely with other committees to help them meet their communications objectives. Ahmed Yearwood of Y Interact oversees all of the FCS’s web activity.
